Luxury Danube river cruise

Pros: The staff is uniformly friendly and competent - you can expect many nice and informative interactions. Tip is included in cruise payment and is not expected at then end of your vacation. The food is truly excellent and is based on local specialties. The small number of passengers (100) fosters friendships.
Cons: Several of the small towns are very similar, an optimal agenda for us would have been 1 day on the ship with extra time in Vienna and Budapest. The evening entertainment consists of a husband and wife duo. They were average, but not at the level of the other staff members.

This cruise is expensive, however the inclusion of high quality shore excursions at each site, exquisite food and high staff to passenger ratio made the vacation worth it. The age of the passengers skews to the post retirement years, so don't expect much in the way of nightlife. Because the ship often sails overnight, going out at night in the port city is not possible. This cruise would be very dull for a child. Several teenagers and gen Xers from one large family group seemed to have a great time. The staterooms are large - including the bathroom and closet. There are no balconies but the window replaces the entire outer wall. We took a tour of the kitchen and it was spotless.
