TravelPlex employs one of the most comprehensive fare search engines available today. While BookingBuilder has the capability to scan over 70 airline and airfare websites, TravelPlex has, for speed reasons, limited our scraping window to roughly 30 primary sites. Expedia, Orbitz, Kayak, Southwest Airlines and American Airlines are but a few of the sites we have access to. We rarely find a fare lower than what we can access through the GDS (this is due to the GDS contracts negotiated between the airlines and the GDS companies in 2008 and renegotiated in 2016). Many of the low Internet fares that are unearthed have severe restrictions, and have not always been “corporate travel” friendly. In November, 2011, and again in March 2012 we found a fare lower than what the GDS offered, and TravelPlex was able to find it and - book it. The fares averaged a savings of $19 lower than the GDS rate. Not bad for the tens of thousands of fares we have booked.

TravelPlex is so confident in our ability to offer the lowest fares that we tell our clients, should a traveler ever find a lower fare than what TravelPlex can offer (given the same search window and parameters), TravelPlex will pay the difference in fares to the client. As mentioned earlier, this has occurred twice in seven years. In fact, we consistently return lower fares for our travel partners each month. These are savings that are captured after the initial reservation has been made. Roughly three to five percent of our reservations are identified for lower fares closer to the departure date. Fares are monitored up until six hours prior to domestic departures and 24 hours prior to international departures.
